We Stand Alone
No matter what anybody says or does to try to avoid this reality…you cannot escape it. At the end of our days, when the years of our destiny on this side of heaven have come to a conclusion we will give an account as to what we did with our lives. Whatever you believe about spirituality whether you believe in God or not, a heaven and hell or just nothing ALL OF US will face the final test…and we will do it alone. There will be no riches, fame, friends, family no not even your spouse can speak on your behalf…it is between you and that which anchors your spirit.
The words of the simple shepherd boy in Israel in the bible who became famous after he killed the giant Goliath come to my mind. The Psalmist is quote as saying:
Psalm 90:12 “Teach us to number our days, that we may gain a heart of wisdom.”
We are adrift in a sea of humanity, each with choices we are faced with every day and decisions that can only be made through reaching down deep within the depths of our hearts. The world we live in is a beautiful place but it is in chaos with hardship, trials and obstacles seemingly within arms reach at every moment. There are things that are beyond comprehension, that cannot be explained…atrocities against mankind that speak of a greater battle that is waging beneath the visible surface of earth…there is darkness and there is light. Each are entitled to their own opinions and that is the great thing about living in free nations like we do we can explore and practice our belief systems as we see fit.
I will be open and honest with you…I believe that it is impossible to function, move and breathe without “Kadosh Ruah Yah” (The Holy Breath of God) flowing through our lungs and entire being. I look around at this beautiful creation and every person that I have the pleasure to know and love and think to myself…it is impossible for there not to be a God in heaven who is looking out for us. When we stand alone and have nobody else to turn to the Spirit of God is there to give life and light.
John 1:4 “In Him was Life and that light was the (zoe) light of mankind.”
The world is in need of light…so much of the media, people’s focus and attention is on darkness but we need to be a light in all circumstances and in all places.
“Darkness cannot drive out darkness: only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate: only love can do that.” Martin Luther King Jr.
Marcus Luttrell and his men were a part of a US Navy Seals special ops team in a mission called Operation Red Wings which was a combined joint military operation during the War in Afghanistan (2001–present) the operation was intended to disrupt local hostile militia “The Taliban” that were stopping the USA and their allies from making progress in instating democracy and freedom in the region. The op quickly went horribly wrong and Marcus and his men were faced with making a terrible decision that could ultimately cost them their lives.
For those of you who haven’t seen the movie “Lone Survivor” that came out in 2012 based on this epic true story I won’t play spoiler but I will say that the journey that Marcus and his squad went through to reach the end and ultimately freedom was costly and required each man to look further than the current chaos they all faced. These men were behind enemy lines facing the vicious Taliban militia, cut off from the rest of their squad and faced with overwhelming obstacles, outnumbered and outgunned. The choice they made at the end affected future generations and therefore was a decision that was equally based on what was to come and also what was presently happening.
So when we are in tough scenarios what is the main thing we should ask for?
We need our inner eyes to see deeper, further and beyond than what is just on the surface. When we stand alone we must look to the higher office and ask God for wisdom on how to count and number our days…we must choose to be light in a dark world.
In closing I will leave you with the words of US NAVY Seal Marcus Luttrell a man who embodies the title “Lone Survivor”.
“There’s a storm inside of us. I’ve heard many team guys speak of this. A burning. A river. A drive. An unrelenting desire to push yourself harder and further than anyone could think possible”
