Sky Full of Stars
I sat in the comfort of my cozy chair watching the Voice finale this past week on TV and I was entertained to a great show, lots of guest artists and the final 3 going for it all to see who would win the Voice. For those of you who aren’t aware or don’t follow the show, the Voice is a singing competition where some of the most talented emerging male and female artists in America battle it out for a recording contract and the title as the winner of the Voice. As great as it was to see the winner crowned, several great performances by the last remaining contestants and all the past eliminated singers I was the most impacted by one particular shy, humble, gentle and free spirited man…one Chris Martin of Coldplay who was performing his new song “Sky Full of Stars”. In all the years I have followed singers both in talent competitions and professionals who are already big I have never seen the level of joyful and ecstatic abandonment that Chris showed in his performance on the VOICE. It was over the top freedom to the point where it made the judges extremely uncomfortable. This man totally stripped down naked in his soul and left his entire heart on the stage…I was utterly amazed at the courage he had to do that. No fear of man whatsoever.
Some of the lyrics go like this:
“Your a Sky Full of Stars…i’m going to give you my heart…In a Sky Full of Stars I think I see you….Your a Sky Full of Stars such a heavenly view.”
I Caleb have these questions when I hear a song like this:
1) Who is the Lord of the stars?
2) Where does the source of light come from?
3) When we look up to the skies and see the stars what do we see?
These are all questions I have…and probably millions more around the world have…and the Hebraic text of Isaiah below covers the Hebrew interpretation of who they believed created and guides the stars to shine upon us.
“Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens: Who created all these? He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls forth each of them by name. Because of his great power and mighty strength, not one of them is missing.”
So the next time you go outside to look up at the stars or you notice them illuminating the night sky wherever you may be know that there is something more out there that crafted this universe to be beautiful. If stars and galaxies which are so uniquely beautiful and majestic could be formed and fashioned…then why not you and I? In my opinion it takes just as much faith to believe that we were created out of nothing as it does to believe in something…many of you know what I believe in…but I want to hear your thoughts on what you believe…
What gets you up each morning and helps you illuminate every day of your life?
