The Arsenal of Might

Where Might Dwells

Deep inside the hidden chambers of the human spirit is a place brimming with strength and power.  Moments arise in life when we are at strategic crossroads in our personal destinies and a choice is required in order to progress forward.   Sometimes there are mountains, giants, and obstacles that are too great for human comprehension or earthly wisdom to conquer…so something else is needed in order to overcome these barriers to our destiny.   The answer to these problems lies within the depths of our Spirit where our hammer of might resides.   Every single human being has a plumb line, a root system from their outward appearance to the inner unseen places of the heart.   History tells us that thousands of years ago Isaiah a mystical prophet in Israel spoke of this root to Israel.

Isaiah 11:1-3

A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.
The Spirit of the Lord will rest on him, the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of mightthe Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the Lord and he will delight in the fear of the Lord.

In summary what Isaiah spoke of was of an individual that was to come, a radical revolutionary spirit would arise from the descendants of Jesse and operate on a promised “Messiah”.  What is amazing is what Isaiah declared thousands of years ago has come to pass and is continually being fulfilled in the lives of bold and courageous individuals who carry the 7 Spirits of the Divine One.

Do you notice how these Spirits and attributes of the Divine are matched together?

Look at the Spirit of “Counsel” and “Might”.   These two are inseparable.  It is through engaging wisdom and heeding good council that we bring forth the might of the Spirit!   Looking into the unseen and pulling into the natural the blueprints from above is what council is, might is breathing in the commission from within and powerfully exhaling outwardly into your world

How do we apply “Counsel” & “Might” in our day to day life?

Every single one of us face giants in our lives, this is simple fact of life.  These giants could be: relational conflict, spiritual opposition, financial instability, business crisis and/or personal problems and each one of these giants can only be annihilated through the Spirit of Might.  How we respond is to reach within that treasury of power and pure peace that is our heart and bring might forth through the Spirit of the Lord and deliver the knockout punch to that obstacle!

“May You Live Forever” – Might as Portrayed in Greek History

When one thinks of an epic story, with mighty heroes who faced unbelievable odds and huge battles many people and especially historians will immediately think of “The Battle of Thermopylae”  between the Spartans with their Greek allies against the vast and mighty Persian empire around 480 BC.   Few true stories from ancient times compare to this one.   The full might of hundreds of thousands of Persians led by King Xerxes against brave King Leonidas, his 300 Spartans and their few hundred Greek allies.   Over the course of 3 days the Spartans and their allies make the sands of Thermopylae run red with Persian blood.  It is estimated 20,000 Persians are slain before the Spartans are overcome, eliminated and defeated only because of a Greek traitor who led the Persians through a hidden passageway to find a way around the back of the unstoppable Spartan blockade and mountains.

In “300” (movie adaption of the Battle of Thermopylae) when the end is near King Leonidas looks across the battlefield at the Greek traitor “Ephialtes” who betrayed the Spartans and speaks directly to him and says “May you live forever!”.  At this statement Ephialtes bows his head low in shame and great pain knowing he will have to live with the consequences of his actions forever.  Now whether or not this interaction between Leonidas and the traitor Ephialtes historically actually took place is unknown but one thing is for sure…the saying “May you live forever” would have been seen as a curse and an eternal judgement in Greek culture.  Basically what is being said here is this:

“You will have to live forever in shame as a turncoat knowing that you didn’t stand up for righteousness and truth…and also in the afterlife you will be tormented by the consequences of your betrayal.”

Bold King Leonidas of Sparta and his brave 300 men truly embodied what it means to look beyond the natural and see into the spiritual dimensions.   They did not think of themselves or their own safety but rather laid down their lives for their families, nation and the generations to come.  They did not take the cowardly route of surrender or yielding one inch to their enemies but rather through suffering and death were glorified through history.   Today if you ask people who they remember in the days of the Greek empire they will say names like Alexander the Great and King Leonidas and his courageous 300 Spartans in the same breath.

Matthew 6:19

“Store your treasures in heaven, where moths and rust cannot destroy, and thieves do not break in and steal.”

“Working Out” Your Might

In the winter of 2011 I had the unique privilege of being at the gym one day and meeting a hero in person that I heard of for many years and respected very much.  This man’s name was David Hogan a fiery and passionate missionary who lives out in the dangerous regions of Mexico where the drug cartel wars are going on right now.  He and his wife Debbie have a missionary work there with hundreds of churches and villages that they financially support, feed, love and minister to.  While I was in California that winter I met him in the gym.  If there was ever a man that I knew had the Spirit of Might on it was Hogan.   David Hogan is a man who has literally come back from the dead multiple times, has been beaten to death, driven off cliffs and fought through mudslides, mountains falling down on him and other unbelievable obstacles and seen real miracles.   (I don’t use the term miracles lightly as there is a lot of fluff and hype out there that isn’t a real and true representation of the power of the Spirit but this guy is the real deal).

I wanted this “Hammer” as Hogan called it that deep well of strength and spiritual stamina to breakthrough, see heaven touch down and affect people’s lives and to see the powers of evil and darkness bow to the Spirit of Light.  So the long and the short of it is Hogan agreed to transfer the powers and energies of the Spirit of Counsel & Might to me that I asked for but it required a step of obedience on my part.   I would have to humble myself and force my way to the front of the meeting he was speaking at…so I did just that and grabbed onto him.   Hogan transferred to me the powers and characteristics of the Divine Nature to me…The Spirits of Counsel and Might.  He did some very special poses over me that were signs of worship, meditation and seeking God who is from above.  One of which he shaped himself like a cherubim (an angelic guardian of the Hebraic covenant) over me and then took the palm of his hand and hit my back 3 times infusing the Spirit of Might and strength into me.

Maybe you are wondering: “What the heck just happened?  This is crazy space cadet weirdo spiritual voodoo or hocus pocus!”.   Look at this passage from the Book of Psalms from the Hebraic culture.

Psalm 80:1

“Hear us, Shepherd of Israel, you who lead Joseph like a flock.
You who sit enthroned between the cherubim, shine forth before Ephraim, Benjamin and Manasseh.  Awaken your might; come and save us.”

Key Principle: Might directly comes forth from placing yourself under the canopy of the angelic who are under the overshadowing of the Creator.   If you find yourself in the arms of the angels most likely you will find the “Spirit of Might” that sits on the throne between the cherubim on the ark of the covenant!

How can we take the “Spirit of Might” from the gym to the streets?

Place yourself under the shadow of something greater and superior to you, that Divine Nature, the Holy Spirit, God then what has overshadowed you will cover others with that heavenly peace and inner strength.

“Living in Might”

During some of the darkest days in Israel’s history when there was corruption, pagan kings ruling with an iron fist, lawlessness and immorality all over the place and the worship of many gods was acceptable there lived a pioneer, explorer and spiritual revolutionary named Elijah.  King Ahab and Queen Jezebel had all but annihilated the prophets of Yahweh and of Israel, had them slaughtered and very few remained.  But Elijah stood firm delivering the message that God had put in his heart.   He was the individual who stood against the cloning culture of the day…while others followed the crowd Elijah stood firm to his beliefs and spiritual convictions in the face of overwhelming odds.   In another glorious true ancient history tale like the Spartans in Thermopylae against the Persians this time it is Elijah one prophet of Yahweh against hundreds of the prophets of Baal.  On Mount Carmel, the people of Israel, 450 prophets of Baal, and 400 prophets of Asherah are summoned to Mount Carmel by Elijah to put the powers of Yahweh and Baal to the test in a spiritual showdown of epic proportions. The key for the victor was simple…whoever could call down fire from their god from heaven on their prepared sacrifice would emerge victorious.   Long story short…Elijah wins in a complete rout and proceeds to slaughter the prophets of Baal and Asherah all of them.  But that is not what I want to focus on.

The core of what I want to highlight is what gave Elijah the backbone to stand alone against unbelievable odds?

Our answer lies in the annals of Hebraic history in 1st Kings which describes Elijah’s response to his spiritual guide Yahweh who instructs him to hide himself in the wilderness where Elijah will find strength and provision.  It is this time in the desert that prepared him for his victory on Mount Carmel that we mentioned earlier…this wilderness time of training and strengthening was Elijah’s training camp with “The Spirit of Might”.

1 Kings 17:5-6

So he did what the Lord had told him. He went to the Kerith Ravine, east of the Jordan, and stayed there.   The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning and bread and meat in the evening, and he drank from the brook.

While Israel floundered in drought, famine and hard times under the evil rule of Ahab and Jezebel Elijah was separated in the wilderness, strengthening himself in his spirit and feeding on the promise from his God of freedom for Israel from tyrannical rule.  With no friends on the earth and enemies seemingly on every side Elijah found his strength from heaven by looking above.  The ravens were his supply line and direct phone line of communication between The Spirit of Might and Elijah’s spirit!

So how do all of these stories and examples apply to me right now?

Find strength in the elements of nature the way in which the earth was created.  That hidden place of private victory, contemplation and strength that you were born with from above.

1) Drink the water of counsel and eat the meat of might like Elijah.

2) Stand today for the treasure in heaven you will benefit from tomorrow as King Leonidas and his brave 300 Spartans did.

3) Ask Yahweh to release angelic cherubim to overshadow you that you may awaken the Spirit of Might from within and engage with the ark of the covenant.

4) Stand on the principles and convictions of your spirit by delivering the hammer blow to darkness through feasting on “Might” when nobody is watching in the wilderness settings of your life.

Be equipped with the Arsenal of Might!!!!
