The Treasure called “Life”
When things are going good, falling into place and everything is rolling it is easy to get caught up in the upswing of life. But when tragedy strikes or hard situations arise it is in the epicentre of times like these that remind and challenge us as to where our anchor is and what is our reason for living?
2 Corinthians 4:18
“So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
Earlier this month I went to a public event with some friends and enjoyed a cultural evening of networking with various people, beverages and snacks and quality time with my pals. Then there was “person A” who I met who was very friendly, upbeat and a bright fellow. A few days later I was informed by one my friends who had been at the event with me that night that “person A” died the next morning in a car accident.
This really struck a chord within me…it was so tragic to hear yet slap in the face reality that there are no guarantees we don’t know if we have tomorrow. We must live every day freely, passionately and go after what we were designed to do and that is be change agents that transform the earth into a heavenly abode through movement! We were wired to let our line shine before all men so that people would know and believe that there something more than what we see with our natural eyes, a CREATOR in this world actively at work to enable us to live life to the fullest.
How do we do this? We run like the wind, go after our dreams, refuse to put a lid on what is possible and begin to believe that there is limitless potential out there for us!
We Were Born To Run
Born 2 Run by 7Lions is probably my top anthem song for 2013. The chorus of the song that illumines my inner man with strength and belief in my calling and what I was designed by the Spirit of Life to do…and that is RUN and enjoy every minute of it!
- If the sky turns black, it don’t matter
- We know the sun is coming up
- Built so strong it won’t shatter
- We were born to run
- Sky turn black, wont matter
- Built so strong, won’t shatter
- We were born to ru ru run
- We were born to ru run
The core message of this song if you look it up in it’s entirety is pushing through obstacles, the stormy conditions of life and overcoming impossible odds. The driving engine is the calling placed inside each individual alive on this earth to run and exude the beauty and radiance of another world, the heavenly one from where our ultimate citizenship lies.
“Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.”
Many have gone on before us…our ancestors, loved ones, historical heroes and spiritual pioneers who paved a pathway for us to follow. Ultimately as wonderful and special as this life is it is but an appetizer and for the main course. There is a saying that a wise man once said “We are always in training, even teachers are in training as much as their students are.”
The truth is as much as we are supposed to enjoy the life that has been given to us today we know that at any moment we could graduate from this earth and towards eternity somewhere else…I ask you this question that has probably crossed your mind many times…
If you knew you were going to die how would you live? What would you do? And how would you prepare for what’s coming after death?
Eventually a race through all it’s intervals has a finish line, a theatre production has it’s final curtain, a dance has it’s conclusion, a day, a year, a decade, a century and ultimately a life has it’s end. I hope I am not depressing you but rather motivating you to run the race you have been trained for and designed for and at the same time know where you are heading.
Every person must have an anchor in their Spirit…that thing that gets us up in the morning, what convinces us that we are here for a purpose and not just existing in dead space.
What is my anchor you ask? God.
People ask me are you religious or spiritual? My answer is I have an organic spiritual relationship with my Higher Power through the Hebraic Gate called Yahweh.
For me it is impossible that this beautiful earth that we live in, the unique people we come across and the Creation that we see every day could have happened by chance…Religion has made God in man’s image and for the most part has mis represented who God actually is…the truth is God is nothing like what you’ve probably seen. He is Mystery, He is Life and is for you not against you.
The busyness of life, addictions, alcohol, social activity overload and ANYTHING in excess can be things used to numb ourselves to the reality that we are only here for a time…so let’s make it worth it. Let’s love our friends deeper, pursue our Maker and run in what we were brought on this earth to do. Bring heaven to earth. I will leave you with this prayer…as it is universally known and read at many different occasions. At weddings, funerals, before military engagements and by millions around the globe.
“Our Father, which art in heaven,
Hallowed be thy Name.
Thy Kingdom come.
Thy will be done in earth,
As it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive them that trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
But deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
The power, and the glory,
For ever and ever.
Run life my friends and illumine the world around you…live life to the fullest until you drain every last drop you can.
Shalom – Peace To You.
